What is switchgear?
Switchgear is an assembly of switching, protection and isolation devices in a metal enclosure: circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, fuses, protection relays and instrument transformers. It controls and protects power distribution equipment and lets sections of a network be isolated safely for maintenance. Chinese manufacturers mostly build to IEC and GB standards and list common panel types by model number, such as KYN28 withdrawable metal-clad panels and XGN fixed panels for medium voltage, and GCS or MNS panels for low voltage.
